The PCIe AHCI SSDs: Now Supported by the PC-3000 Portable III

The devices that have AHCI drives as storage media remain relevant to this day. The vendors actively use them in SSDs based on PCIe x16, PCIe M.2, NGFF Apple Macbook interfaces. For example, Macbook Air/Pro laptops (2013-2017) have high performance and still receive updates with the latest MacOs X versions. But, as any other devices, they fail sooner or later, so engineers start to get data recovery cases related to these drives.

By popular demand, we have added the PCIe AHCI SSDs to the Support List with the BETA ver. 6.8.2 of the PC-3000 Portable III software. To deal with this type of storage media, you additionally need the new PCIe NVMe/AHCI Adapter for Apple Macbook SSD and PCIe x16 SSD Adapter.

This solution has significantly increased the number of supported PCIe SSDs, especially Apple Macbook SSDs. If previously we only had 2017-2019 devices in the Supported List, now the manufacture dates of supported Apple Macbook SSDs start from 2013! To learn more about the Supported interface types and issues of Apple Macbook SSDs, please read this article on our Blog.

How to select the interface type when launching the PC-3000 Portable III software

You can select the interface type manually in the PCIe M.2 SSD and PCIe x16 SSD menu items or automatically by choosing the option.
