DATA EXTRACTOR

 ADDED

a new mode for dealing with SSD based on Phison controllers (ACELab developers are going to implement the same feature for other SSD Utilities in the future ). This mode is similar to mode for dealing with T2 on SMR WDC Marvell drives. It allows restoring lost data deleted by TRIM, including cases after format. This mode includes two steps:

First step. In the Data Extractor created task based on Active SSD Utility as a source, appears an ability to add a drive in Explorer with "Physical reading mode" (available under right mouse click on the drive menu or 'Work with utility" button). It allows reading the whole accessible addressable space for unencrypted drives. In case of encrypted drive (and with compression) - the whole space which was addressable ever, plus a cache region. This allows to reach access to all data which was ever written on the drive and which were not overwritten yet.

Second step. From the drive with "Physical reading mode", with using Translation information, it is possible to create a drive based on Map with versions of translation (option is available under right mouse click on the drive menu or 'Work with utility" button). On the built virtual partition, it is possible to use an automatic and manual methodics for required versions determination and access to data which is unavailable in common reading mode (for example, deleted files or files after TRIM command, "old' data and metadata). Useful for data recovery engineers and forensics scientists!

 ADDED

possibility to view any map in graph mode;

 IMPROVED

versions adding during the “thin pool” analysis in case of FS tree corruption;

 ADDED

the "shift" field into the "drive editing based on map" mode. This field allows to make a decision about selected versions of the translator in case if there are too many options;

 ADDED

support of LUKS (Linux Unified Key Setup) encrypted partitions and based on LUKS types of encryption in QNAP and Synology NAS storages. Added support for Argon2 algorithm;

Bitlocker

 ADDED

scenario when metadata does not have any information about shifted first sectors of the locked partition;

 ADDED

disassembling of a new data type. Previously, without support of this new type, it was not possible to add a decrypted partition even if the recovery key was known.

NTFS File System:

 ADDED

an option to recover some deleted files into $Logfile and MFT + INDX scan without MFT record recovery;

 IMPROVED

the speed of $Logfile analysis procedure;

 IMPROVED

an algorithm of matching the metadata of NTFS file system during the “drive editing based on map” procedure;

 ADDED

an option for Analysis Results or Snapshots to set the filer for chosen folder and subfolders.

Example: Need to find the most recent pictures in (\Users\admin\Documents) folder.
Advantages:

  • Selection of catalog makes the final result to be more accurate;
  • A long-time request for BD could be interrupted;
  • Repeated filtration goes very fast because previously chosen files ID become automatically saved in a separate file;
 ADDED

an option for Analysis Results or Snapshots to make grouping for selected folder or subfolder. For groups it’s possible to display the following info: total files size, minimal date of creation, maximal dates of modification and access.

Example: need to find out which files go into “Lost and Found”, and are there any pictures, documents and how many of them (by total size). That task could be solved by grouping by type for "Lost and Found" folder;
Advantages:

  • For the whole group the following info been displayed: total files size, minimal date of creation, maximal dates of modification and access;
  • Same-type files (dll_123, dll_4538, dll_2345, ...) are going to be sorted into additional group (dll_...);
  • Selection of catalog makes the final result to be more accurate;
  • A long-time request for BD could be interrupted;
  • Repeated files grouping process goes very fast because previously generated list become cached;
Overall PC-3000 Data Extractor errors and bug fixing improvements.
